Find out about Curzon's ambitious release of Tale of Tales
On 17 June, Curzon Artificial Eye releases Matteo Garrone’s latest feature Tale of Tales in its most ambitious day-and-date release to date, with the support of Creative Europe.
The film, which successfully secured €340,000 in the last round of the Online Distribution scheme, is being released simultaneously on a wide range of VoD platforms and on more cinema screens in the UK, Ireland and Malta than ever to date, and with the largest day-and-date Prints and Advertising budget in Curzon’s history. Whereas previous date-and-date releases tended to only open in the capital city of Dublin, for the release of Tale of Tales the geographical reach of the opening sites has expanded to include regional cities such as Galway and Cork, with a dedicated Irish marketing campaign in place.
The marketing campaign is very much focused on the D&D nature of the release. The online campaign was also boosted by the MEDIA grant which enabled Curzon to reach a younger audience more efficiently than usual.
The film premiered on Wednesday 1 June across several key sites in London and the event was promoted through outdoor, press and online ads. In Curzon Mayfair, the preview screening was followed by a cast & crew Q&A featuring Salma Hayek, Toby Jones, Shirley Henderson, Stacy Martin and director Matteo Garrone. The Q&A was live satellite broadcast to the other physical venues and onto Curzon Home Cinema.
"Curzon is staying ahead of the game, expanding our innovative day and date strategy to encompass live streaming and bringing the excitement of cinema events, usually confined to London, to the rest of the country," says Director of Curzon Home Cinema Philip Mordecai.
